V ABSTRACT DESIGN OF AN INTEGRAL RESIDENCE FOR THE ELDERLY IN SANTA CRUZ DE LA SIERRA The hereby document's objective is to design an integral mixed residence for elderly people living in marginality, this facility will include recreational areas as well as occupational and medical therapy for the purpose of providing shelter and appropriate attention whether it is temporarily or permanently in Santa Cruz de la Sierra. The procedure implemented was the literary examination of primary and secondary sources of data as well as a field survey through observation visits to existing residential facilities to be able to recognize their functional and spacial characteristics, also performing topographical surveys of the terrain and its immediate surrounding’s, and a photographic registry. From these studies it is concluded that there are not enough residential facilities to shelter the elder people living in marginality. Furthermore, existing residential centers are not equipped with the adequate infrastructure, nor the services needed to provide a dignified quality of life. And so, in this way, the document concludes with the design proposition for an integral residence for the elder, which will be able to provide areas for therapies and activities for exercising and taking care of the resident's minds as well as their bodies.
